126bAs you enter the boutique, your eyes are drawn to the back wall, where stark white deer heads with bright yellow antlers sit amongst faux boxwood. As you stroll through, JOLI welcomes you with warmth, color, and great style. Chairs, bar stools, and a coffee table invite shoppers to sip a coffee, sit for a conversation and stay a while.

This past July, after three years in Salt Lake City’s Sugarhouse neighborhood, JOLI moved to its new space in Redstone Center. With a background in urban development, owner Katherine Quinlan appreciates that Redstone, in Kimball Junction, is an increasingly-pedestrian- friendly shopping area. Quinlan also considers the new location the perfect halfway point to continue serving her rapidly-expanding customer base.

“We want to create a ladies lounge where women can have fun with fashion in a social atmosphere,” said Quinlan. She envisions JOLI as a place for women of all ages to find sophisticated, contemporary clothes that flatter all body types, and the boutique is filled with exceptional pieces from intricate cuffs to distressed-leather jackets. As she says, “We don’t buy the season’s trends, we interpret the trends for our clients.” Along with partner Stephanie Hunt, an interior designer and blogger, Quinlan makes it JOLI’s mission to find designers, brands and artisans that aren’t otherwise available in the area. Hunt adds that the store has a cool, ‘Tribeca-loft-meets-Laguna Beach’ vibe aka perfect shopping atmosphere.

Mixed-in among the apparel and accessories are exquisite home interior pieces, like richly-woven wall tapestries.

Personal styling is a specialty at JOLI, and Quinlan relishes the thrill of finding just the right look for her clients, many of whom are short on time. She knows that something as seemingly-simple as a new scarf can transform an ensemble from day to night, or bland to bravissimo!

In December, JOLI will host designer Nicole Miller. Well-known for her couture lines, NM dazzles at Fashion Week year after year. (You may remember Seinfeld’s Elaine wanting a Nicole Miller lbd!)

One of Quinlan’s most recent discoveries is designer Misha Nonoo. Featured in French and American Vogue, Nonoo’s fresh line is geared toward women who want clothes that seamlessly segue from the workday to a night out. Quinlan is excited about hosting Nonoo at the store next fall.

Special events, designer meet-and-greets, fashion shows, and movie nights all add to the uniqueness that continues to draw customers through JOLI’s turquoise doors.
