Music is the poetry of the air. – Jean Paul Richter

The crisp, cool evening air in Park City lends itself to some of the best outdoor concerts around. With multiple venues set against a background of majestic mountains, the following outdoor performances deliver spectacles of sight and sound.

Throughout the summer, the Deer Valley Music Festival hosts the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera at the resort’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Opening the summer season on July 4th are the Texas Tenors with “Let Freedom Sing.” The summer schedule includes Kenny Rogers, Music of U2, Disney in Concert, and a special performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. An enchanting setting with world-class music makes for an unforgettable occasion.

Canyons resort hosts its Summer Concert Series every Saturday evening, featuring talented local musicians. Opening this season is the Canyons’ Third of
July celebration, with live music and a spectacular fireworks display set against the backdrop of the resort’s mountain peaks.

This is a much-anticipated annual event for locals and a special treat for visitors. Multiple restaurants are on the grounds to meet every dining whim or bring a picnic and stake out a prime spot of your own.

Park City Performing Arts Foundation presents Big Stars Bright Nights, sponsored by The St. Regis Deer Valley. These amphitheatre concerts offer lawn and reserved seating and some of the country’s most popular performers. Gourmet picnic baskets are available for purchase—a venue that truly offers “one-stop shopping” for a special night out.

The Newpark Concerts are free to the public and held every Thursday at 6 p.m. in Kimball Junction. This fast-growing part of town offers numerous shopping, lodging and dining choices, all within walking distance of the concert venue, with plenty of free parking available. The bandstand concerts are a favorite for local performers and visitors alike, and a great way to start your weekend.

Riff ’s Full Moon Concert Series provides an intimate setting for original music. If “up close and personal” is where you want to be, then join in one of these acclaimed listening rooms. Seasoned and novice performers delight audiences in a cozy atmosphere located in the Bonanza area. Check your “lunar calendar” for upcoming dates.

On Wednesday evenings, Grand Valley Bank presents free Community Concerts. Local musicians perform in Deer Valley’s amphitheatre, with its amazing natural acoustics.

Sundance Resort’s Bluebird Cafe Concert Series is billed as “a little bit of Nashville” with its slate of highly-acclaimed artists. Partnered with the original Bluebird Cafe in Nashville— where artists such as Garth Brooks and Faith Hill began their careers—this series brings to the West the tradition of musical storytelling. Lawn and bench seating are available, as are packages including concerts, lodging and dining. Make a day of it with a hike, lift ride or wagon ride up to the concert grounds.

Salt Lake City’s Red Butte Outdoor Concert Series boasts an impressive and diverse roster of popular artists, with an unparalleled setting. This botanical paradise is a popular destination for visitors and residents, with acres of specialty gardens and native plantings. With top-billed performers from Smokey Robinson to Sheryl Crow, the big names rock-out under the stars all summer. Lawn seating gives the venue a community feeling, and concessions from Whole Foods guarantee no one will go hungry.
As the sun sets upon the hot summer days, watch the stars align—on stage and in the sky—to provide a most memorable evening of music.
