A native son of Utah, photographer Willie Holdman’s devotion to his home state is evident in every photograph in his Utah: Mountains to Deserts book collection. Willie takes us with him to some of Utah’s highest peaks, as well as its lower deserts; we experience its well known national and state parks and monuments alongside its remote expanse and most isolated settings.

Uinta-Reflection-Clouds-091213-0876Utah has long inspired awe similar to that which Willie’s images provoke. The land, the fixed and enduring part of the Utah story, has long proven powerful in shaping the human interactions that played out here.
