Farm fresh is what’s hip and now. From farm-to-table restaurants to rotating seasonal menus, digging back to our roots is the goal of many restauranteurs. For Mr. Volker Ritzinger, farm fresh has been hip and now for the past 15 years.

As the man behind the Park City Farmer’s Market, Volker takes great care in selecting only the best of local produce. Personally inspecting each farmer’s offerings himself, Volker ensures all are on the same page with quality, stating that only the “good stuff ” goes into the ground.

One vendor, Jen Day with Day Farms in Layton, has been a part of the market for 12 years. “We love the atmosphere, the people,” says Day. Regulars have become friends, and with the mountainous backdrop they look forward to Wednesdays all summer long.

With 80-100 vendors dotting the Canyons parking lot every Wednesday from the end of May through October, shoppers can fi nd almost anything in food and craft s. Originally hosting only farmers, 2008 invited the opportunity to bring in more variety creating the appealing diversity that can be found today.

As Utah is dotted with many markets on Saturdays, Volker knew Wednesdays were perfect for gathering all of the best together in one place. It’s a happy hump-day indeed with live music, craft s, arts and food filling the air of Park City’s lower Canyons parking lot.
