All Bundled Up in Luxury

Nestled in a yellow three-story building on historic Main Street, the Alaska Fur Gallery is the “go to” store for luxurious options to keep warm in Park City’s winter season. With a beautiful selection of furs, shearling and leather, the store also offers unique accessories (turns out most anything can be lined with plush fur!).

The Hernández family, founders of Alaska Fur Gallery, has been in the business since 1935, when two generations of sons learned the trade in their native Alaska. In 1964, another generation of la familia Hernández—Hiram and Blanca—took the reins, opening a fur trade business in Anchorage. Their seven children were well- versed in the family’s trade. Their youngest son, Marcus, took the reins, partnering with his parents to open a full-service, luxury fur salon in the “lower forty-eight”. Marcus had the foresight to recognize that Park City would be shining on the world stage during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, and Alaska Fur Gallery opened on Main Street in 2001. In 2004, Alaska Fur Gallery moved to its current location in the Cunningham Building.

Parkite Leslie Stark says, “I love walking into the Alaska Fur Gallery. It entices all the senses. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Whether I’m looking for something to keep me warm or a gift, I can find it there.”

In tandem with providing the finest-quality furs to Park City clients, Marcus found a niche for expert repairs, conditioning and appraisals. The added value of on-site alterations sets a high standard for “full-service”, and recent expansion of the business has graced other mountain resort communities—Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, and Vail, along with several locations in Alaska.

With distinctive luxury outerwear and a customer service- oriented staff, the Alaska Fur Gallery has just the thing to keep you (and yours) warm and looking fabulous!
