Sunset Dining in Park City

By Julie Hooker

Cool summer nights under the stars make dining at sunset the perfect ending to delightful summer days in Park City.

Big Cottonwood Canyon
Featuring home-cooked meals, inspiring views, and friendly staff, SILVER FORK LODGE is a local secret. From Park City, it’s a quick jaunt over Guardsman Pass to the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon and down to Silver Fork Lodge.

Deer Valley
At Deer Valley, dining at STEIN ERIKSEN LODGE exceeds all expectations. From custom cocktails to exotic dishes, guests enjoy a wide variety of fare. Everything at Stein’s is made more breathtaking by the exquisite views of Deer Valley.

Under the direction of world-renowned Executive Chef Zane Holmquist, the summer menu features fresh, local and sustainable ingredients for his award-winning dishes. Seasonal menus include wine pairings from Sommelier Cara Schwindt.

At the MONTAGE DEER VALLEY, guests are treated to unobstructed 70-mile views of the Uinta Mountain Range. Outdoor dining is available at both Apex and the Vista Lounge and Terrace.
Apex focuses on regionally inspired mountain American cuisine, and Vista offers a variety of Asian entrees including Vietnamese Pho Noodle Soup, spicy tuna tacos, Thai chicken lettuce wraps and wasabi glazed coconut shrimp.

From the Alpine Squeeze to the Mountain Derby—winner of the 2013 Park City Cocktail Contest—guests can sip intriguing blends under the stars. Guests, residents and locals alike gather on the fire-warmed terrace for wine tasting, international beers, views and fresh mountain air. Nightly live music adds to the inviting atmosphere.

Park City
A favorite for locals and visitors, RIVERHORSE ON MAIN features a delightful balcony overlooking Historic Main Street. When dining outside in the summer, you’ll hear the famous “Ten o’clock Whistle.” Around the turn of the century, this signaled that curfew was coming. Today, it reminds guests to order another round to enjoy the revelry on Main Street. The Riverhorse features nightly live entertainment and a delicious menu including the Riverhorse Tower appetizer and the macadamia nut crusted Alaskan halibut.

RUTH’S CHRIS STEAK HOUSE sizzles in the elegant Hotel Park City. In the evening, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Wasatch Mountains. Chef Brady Gray believes that the memory of a great meal stays with you long after the table has been cleared. Using quality ingredients including local sourced produce, gourmet meals at Ruth’s Chris include Sizzlin’ Blue Crab Cakes, Veal Osso Buco Ravioli, lobster bisque, and, of course, signature steaks like the Cowboy Ribeye and Porterhouse for two.

With wine pairings and a fully stocked bar, you’ll want to stay outside eating and drinking until the cool night air blows into the mountains. Cocktails at Ruth’s Chris are handcrafted and made with fresh-squeezed juices. You’ll feel like you’re reliving history when you sip on a vintage cocktail like the Ruby Red Greyhound.

Whether you cross the border into Big Cottonwood Canyon or stay in the Park City and Deer Valley area, dining outside in the summer is both visually and gastronomically spectacular.
