143aSave a Farm Animal

Scheduled to be in operation this summer, the new Sage Mountain Animal Rescue, a 501 (c3) non-profit is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of farm animals. Through rescue and education, founders Lauren Lockey and Dave Swartz hope they can inspire change for many farm animals that must endure harsh living conditions. Sage Mountain Animal Rescue will be advocates for these animals and bring awareness of the effects animal agriculture can have on our health, local wildlife and the environment. “Our mission is to inspire compassion for ourselves as human beings, farm animals and our planet as a whole,” says Lockey. She adds that people are beginning to choose a plant based diet: “There is a growing global movement to reduce meat consumption, and we want to do our part to encourage more people to embrace plant-based eating by helping to promote various programs.” The animals that will be brought to the 162 acre facility in Brown’s Canyon will have been removed from abusive or neglectful environments. The animals will be available for adoption, but only as family pets.
