In April 2017, Park City Community Foundation launched a new initiative to facilitate access to sports and recreation for Latino children in our community. The Community Foundation believes that it is vitally important for all children to have an equal opportunity to participate in these fun and rewarding activities.

This initiative has identified and aims to address several barriers that hinder Latino participation. In late April, The Solomon Fund held its first ever registration event to address one of these barriers, communication and outreach. With the help of the staff at Park City Community Foundation, organizations had their materials translated into Spanish and translators were available to help with communication.

At this event alone, over 100 families attended and signed up for spring and summer opportunities from nine participating organizations. This first ever event has sparked interest in the community and brought more organizations to the table that also want to participate and diversify their programs.

By continuing to help connect local organizations and the Latino community, the Community Foundation’s Solomon Fund is impacting lives one player at a time and helping to create a more inclusive, integrated and complete community.
