Although Park City has long been known as an Alpine skiing mecca, Summit County’s Nordic trails system has grown tremendously in both size and popularity over the past several years. With Park City boasting over 50 kilometers of groomed trails and the surrounding areas’ additional 70 kilometers, Summit County has truly become a world- class Nordic destination that rivals the best in the country. Check out some of these local favorites for a day full of high-altitude winter fun.

Round Valley Open Space – Soldier Hollow

Located in nearby Midway, Round Valley provides almost 700 acres of contiguous recreational open space and is considered by many locals as Park City’s playground. The sagebrush-dotted hills of Round Valley are home to some of the area’s most beautiful residents: moose, deer, rabbits and even the occasional coyote. During the winter months, approximately 15 kilometers of groomed trails are available for snowshoe and cross- country ski enthusiasts. You’re likely to see dog walkers, joggers, and snow bikes, all enjoying the Round Valley trail system. Yearly events such as the Round Valley Round-Up Nordic Race and the Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race are also held here. With the backdrop enhanced by the Wasatch Mountains to the west and the Uintas to the east, this serene setting provides limitless hours of family-friendly, high-altitude enjoyment.

Jeremy Ranch Nordic Skiing

Jeremy Ranch, known as one of the most picturesque settings in the West, is a spectacular summer-golf-course-turned-Nordic Center in the winter. Cross-country ski clinics are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. Professional coaches are onsite to assist those who would like to improve and progress in their skiing ability levels. Individuals participating will get to enjoy the scenic backdrops Jeremy Ranch has to offer while wandering the East Canyon Creek along the ranch property. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day of outdoor adventure on the ranch!

White Pine Nordic Center

White Pine Touring operates a 20+ kilometer cross-country ski center in the heart of Park City. Enjoy the spectacular mountain views along one of three groomed loops. With 3k, 5k and 10k+ loops, they are perfect for the novice, intermediate and advanced classic- or skate-skier. Heated underground parking, passes, equipment and lessons are all offered on site. Looking for alternative outdoor activities? No problem! White Pine also offers an array of guided hiking and snowshoeing tours available for every skill level.

Park City’s groomed tacks are truly prized possession.  As a winter outdoor enthusiast, do your part to maintain the tracks’ integrity for all users, and always have pets on leashes with cleaning bags on hand. Remember to never intrude upon wildlife, and keep a watchful eye for native vegetation that might also be disturbed. Park City is known for crisp sunny days, a multitude of Nordic activities and some of the best trails in the country, so be our guest and enjoy all that our winter paradise has to offer.
