Last fall, The Park City Community Foundation launched the Women’s Giving Fund, a nonprofit that will provide up to $50,000 per year in grants to Summit County causes that support women and children. The Women’s Giving Fund’s goal is to build a $1 million endowment in one year, by engaging 1,000 women to give a one-time gift of $1,000 each.

By early fall of 2013, The Park City Community Foundation was halfway to meeting their goal of $1 million. The outcome of reaching this goal will be high-impact grants designed to support women and children forever.

Individuals can donate $1,000 in one payment or monthly ($84 for one year). Donating on behalf of someone is a popular gift during the holiday season. Many people choose to donate in honor of their wife, mother, daughter or sister, who will enjoy a lifetime membership. Says Phyllis Maizlish, “I gave on behalf of my three daughters, my daughter-in-law and six granddaughters. As a part-time resident for thirteen years I appreciate all that Park City has to offer. My family has enjoyed vacationing in Park City, and now some are living in the area. We wanted to be part of this great effort of the Women’s Giving Fund. We know the fund will have a huge impact in making lives better for women and children in the Summit County area forever.”

Every year, members will have the opportunity to vote for what organization they believe should receive a grant. Prior to the vote, a smaller group of members, rotating annually, will narrow down the eligible organizations. Members will also have the chance to hear from previous recipients about the impact of the grant.

Park City Community Foundation (PCCF) is Summit County’s community foundation. Founded six years ago, PCCF has led several successful campaigns and programs in addition to the Women’s Giving Fund. Save Our Snow helped individuals reduce their carbon and water usage. Live PC Give PC is an annual giving day campaign that raised $1 million in its first two years. As an on-going effort, PCCF provides grants and education to local nonprofits and philanthropic services to families and businesses.
