Music is Everywhere in Our Mountains

If it seems like there’s a soundtrack to your Park City summer, you’re not imagining things. The hills really are alive with the sound of music. Between Park City’s homegrown talents and musicians who love coming here in the summer—and who can blame them—there are always tunes to hear while you’re shopping, dining, biking or strolling about town. From the heart of the city to the outskirts, music is a backdrop to life here.

Every Sunday throughout the summer live music pours into the streets from several locations at the Park Silly Sunday Market. It’s a free addition to the fun ambience of the weekly festival on Main Street.

Miner’s Park Concerts take place in a pocket park at 415 Main Street on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. It’s free so grab a cold drink, relax in the shade and do some toe tapping.

Many restaurants and clubs provide live music for customers and passersby. Check them out individually or reference the sources listed below.

The Egyptian Theatre on Main Street always has something going on, like world class concerts and musicals throughout the summer.

The Park City International Music Festival features chamber music by world renowned artists in intimate venues and homes around town, from July 12th to August 6th.

Deer Valley Amphitheater is a gorgeous outdoor venue on an expansive grassy hill surrounded by our famous mountains. It’s home to several concert series. The Deer Valley® Music Festival, presented by Utah Symphony/Utah Opera, runs on various nights from July 7th to August 11th. The Utah Symphony, one of only 17 full time 52-week symphony orchestras in the country, plays at every concert. They’ll be backing up bands Earth Wind & Fire, Kansas and Pink Martini. The music of Michael Jackson, Broadway and Disney will get tribute concerts, Utah Opera will perform Opera Hits and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will celebrate the best of The American Songbook. The Frontier Bank Community Concert Series at Deer Valley is a free event every Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. during the summer. The St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert series features major headline acts at the Deer Valley Amphitheater from July to Labor Day. Have a picnic or enjoy the concessions. Bring fleece—it gets chilly at night.

Riff ’s Acoustic Music, 1205 Iron Horse Drive has a casual, intimate performance space with monthly Full Moon Concerts. There’s also a Third Thursday Local’s Showcase. Drinks and snacks are welcome.

The Silver Star Café at 1825 Three King’s Drive behind Park City Golf Course has free Plaza Palooza concerts from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursdays all summer. Bring your own or take advantage of their special concert night menu. Parking is limited so it’s best to walk or bike in.

Canyons Resort Village has a free Summer Concert Series from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday, July 14th to September 1st in their open air venue. Park off of highway 224 and take the cabriolet to enjoy a gorgeous view on your way up. Bring the family, a picnic and your dancing sandals.

Every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. through the summer free band concerts play outdoors in the Newpark Amphitheater at Kimball Junction. Have a meal at one of the nearby restaurants or bring a blanket and unwind to the tunes.

At most of the concerts boogieing, boot-scooting and swinging your partner are encouraged. Dance with your baby, the grown-up or infant kind, send the kids down front to do the wiggle hop, and let the melodies melt your cares away in Park City’s beautiful mountain setting.
