A dining wintertime wonderland.

Nestled in Little Cottonwood Canyon lies a dreamy French chateau, authentically European and decadently gorgeous. Described as  “a place of idealized beauty, peacefulness, and inspiration,” La Caille hosts a wealth of amenities that regale the senses. Twenty acres of gardens meander throughout the property, wildlife like deer and peacocks pepper the grounds, a painted glass ceiling graces the lounge, a vineyard sits beneath the mountains, and a winding brick road pours into a stately courtyard in front of the main building.

In the midst of this magical setting—swans floating atop a pond covered in hundreds of blooming aquatic flowers—lies the true soul of La Caille: award-winning cuisine. Mouth watering chateaubriand, Provencal escargots bourguignon, caviar oscientr with quail egg and white truffle cream, and traditional coquilles Saint Jacques decorate the savory menu. Desserts such as beignet Francaise (with Venetian Anglaise!) quell the appetite with succulence. Executive Chef Brandon Howard brings a unique and highly seasoned talent to La Caille’s kitchen. Trained at Le Cordon Bleu, Howard’s 25- year career includes working with Alice Waters (Chez Panisse) and showcasing classical and nouveau cuisine expertise. His passion for the chateau extends beyond the stovetops and into operations, as he is also Executive Director of the property.

Culinary and aesthetic delights await at La Caille throughout the year, but winter is a special time at the chateau. Various events and celebrations commemorate the colder and snowier season. The restaurant is open for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christma Day and New Year’s Eve to feast and toast the holidays with its patrons. Gift certificates are available for purchase, but be sure to make reservations as holidays such as Valentine’s Day sell out months in advance.

The property undergoes a decorative transformation before Thanksgiving signifying the commencement of the festive season. Each dining room is adorned with twinkle lights, garlands, ornamented trees, and colorful presents. Santa and his sleigh reign from the sky above the restaurant, and the topiary along the cobblestone path is lighted glowingly. It’s a magical sight for the entire family to enjoy.

When the snow blankets and icicles hang from the rooftops, drop into La Caille for a cup of wassail by the fireside!
