“Park City’s Freshest Art Gallery”

By Laura Jackson

There’s just something special about discovering your own treasures in an art gallery,” describes Maren Mullin, owner of Park City’s Gallery MAR. At her inviting gallery, she understands the value of letting collectors and art lovers alike meander around in their own sort of art treasure hunt. She believes, “There’s a certain magic in finding personal connections with a piece of art that’s hard to describe without experiencing it on your own.”

And if you haven’t yet discovered Gallery MAR’s gorgeous new location just up the street at 436 Main, be sure to stop by. You’ll find the same exquisite collection of contemporary art including captivating landscapes, narrative representational works, bronze sculptures, mixed media paintings, whimsical figurative pieces and much more. But you’ll also uncover many new treasures from both seasoned and emerging artists. Mullin’s new space is more than double what she had before, allowing her to exhibit not only more artwork, but larger pieces too.

Besides having beautiful high ceilings and lots of new places to hang art, she also designed some unique pull-out walls at the back of the gallery. These interesting sliding metal walls can hold more than 70 additional pieces and provide even more fun opportunities to explore hidden gems. “The extra walls allow us to display more art, but even more importantly, they provide safer storage,” said Mullin.

In the very first week at the new location, Gallery MAR hosted a special dinner for the Kimball Arts Center Transformation Project, and Mullin looks forward to many more events like this in her new larger space. The gallery’s grand opening celebration is scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend, one of her favorite times in Park City. Mullin has continued to be a big supporter of all things Park City, especially Main Street, where she just took on the position of president of the Historic Park City Alliance.

Be sure to check out Gallery MAR’s fabulous website at gallerymar.com, where Mullin hosts an informative blog that provides up-to-date information on the energetic art scene in Park City, and discusses other interesting topics in the art world as well. She also does a great job of promoting Park City overall. Mullin explains, “As Park City is becoming more of a nationally recognized art destination, I think it’s important to do my part to foster that, as well as the growth of Park City in general.”

Her business motto, “Park City’s Freshest Art Gallery” offers a fitting description of Mullin’s ability to provide cutting edge art, along with refreshing ideas for our mountain community, with a most magnetic charisma and charm.
