Shred for Red
Patients and Olympians Team Up To Shred The Mountain and Cancer
Did you know that someone is diagnosed with blood cancer every 3 minutes? Now is the time to defeat cancer once and for all. Deer Valley Resort is joining forces with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for Shred for Red; a one-day event to eradicate blood cancer while skiing the greatest snow on earth! Shred for Red benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society—a non profit organization dedicated to finding a cure to blood cancers and providing patients with the treatments they need. Registration is now open at www.lls.org/shredforred .
Shred for Red provides an opportunity to meet and ski with Olympians, participate in exciting activities, and win prizes. Shred for Red will help millions of cancer patients across the U.S. by funding blood cancer research and patient outreach programs.
Bryan Fletcher, Nordic Combined Olympian and Leukemia survivor said, “This event is so special to me, because it joins two of my greatest passions. I get the opportunity to connect with my fellow athletes and my fellow survivors. It’s like nothing else I’ve been a part of.”
Participants are encouraged to raise funds by connecting with their friends and family prior to event day. Those who achieve a benchmark of $300 will enjoy a full-day lift ticket to Deer Valley Resort, access to the Après ski reception, the chance to interact with Winter Olympians, challenges and activities on the slopes, and a Shred for Red bib that identifies participants on the mountain.
“Seeing other Shred for Red bibs on the mountain brought a sense of togetherness. When you saw other people in that red bib, you knew they were fighting the same fight. People with bibs were your family,” commented Jon Nepstad, a participant who was raising funds in honor of his father who passed away from a blood cancer.
Shred for Red is a fun, family-friendly experience open to all ages and abilities. Even those who choose not to get out on the slopes and ski can still participate in the on-mountain challenges as a Lodge Lounger. More information about participant options can be found at www.lls.org/shredforred.
The most dedicated supporters will have the opportunity to choose from an array of incentives and the top fundraising shredders will be invited to attend a prestigious VIP reception December 6th at St. Regis. At the end of the day, participants leave having accomplished challenges, celebrated victories, and supported the fight against blood cancer.
