Is this still Utah?

By Sharon Mardula

Atmosphere, music, decor and, of course, the food, touch on regional cuisines from Northeast hearty alpine to Pacific Rim cuisine, from Kansas City barbecue to West Coast fresh, with chicken fingers for the kids. Here are some of our favorites from the 16 on-mountain choices.

MINER’S CAMP
Just Like Over the Campfire Melt-in-your-mouth braised beef surrounded by tender cooked beets, brussel sprouts and au jus, Chef Jared’s Hobo Stew wasn’t at any of my campfires! Discover this and more at Miner’s Camp, where the “mountain modern” theme enhances dishes like the Miner’s Meatloaf Sandwich, topped with crispy onions and served on homemade focaccia, or the Hand-Stacked Lamb Gyro with tender Utah lamb and a refreshing mint sauce.

87aCLOUD DINE
A Dream You Don’t Want to End Donuts — classic glazed, Orangesicle-filled, chocolate-coated — all dreamy and made on Dream Peak at an altitude of 9270 feet. The Tuna Nicoise with its generous wedge of seared ahi tuna, fingerling potatoes, French green beans and seasoned flatbread is truly a dream come true. The Kobe Pretzel Dog — a gourmet dog, wrapped in a pretzel bun and served with homemade sauerkraut, homemade pickles and homemade mustard — blows away its cousin, the Windy City’s Chicago Dog. Did I mention it’s all homemade? This Cloud Dine dream goes on and on.

TOMBSTONE GRILL
Barbecue, Barbeque or BBQ?
No matter how you spell it —Tombstone Grill has the meat! All slow-smoked at the prep kitchen in Kamas and then finished on- site at the open air grill, brisket, beef short ribs, sausage and pulled pork are paired with cornbread and coleslaw. Customize with the Chef’s signature sauces and show your ‘cue roots! Chose a vinegar-based sauce — the Carolinas. Sweet, spicy, tangy — you’re a Kansas City purist. Spicy pepper hot — well, y’all might be from Texas.

LOOKOUT CABIN
Rocky Mountain Fine Dining
This modest chalet wows with hearty alpine fare like Rocky Mountain Fondue kicked with hard cider, or Kobe Flatiron Steak complemented by a High West Whiskey glaze. Tear your eyes away from the open kitchen to take-in some of the most incredible views on the mountain. Lookout Cabin comes complete with table service and a full bar for the ultimate relaxing lunch. Make your reservation today!

RED PINE LODGE
Something for Every Taste
Open all year, the mountain rustic décor of Red Pine Lodge belies its eclectic offerings. Sure, you can find Park City’s Signature Bison Chili and a delish Grilled Chicken- Avocado Club sandwich, but venture further into the serving area for extraordinary ethnic food. The Thai Coconut Soup is thick and yummy while the rice noodles, cabbage and tons of veggies rock the Saigon Salad.
Kosher? No problem. Want it spicy? The El Cubano sandwich features pig two ways and fresh jalapeños.
So buckle up your boots, strap on your skis and take your dining experience up the mountain at Park City Mountain.
