HALOTHERAPY RESTORES BODY & SOUL AT SALT METHOD

Rebekah Stokely created Salt Method to introduce Pilates to Park City and provide a place for optimal experience regardless of age or fitness level. Rebekah has a master’s degree in industrial organization psychology and a lengthy dance background.

“My dream as a girl was to open my own dance studio.” That didn’t happen, but she discovered Pilates, a core-based fitness program. “When I started Salt Method, I wanted a place of community,” says Rebekah. “I wanted to incorporate fitness, relaxation and meditation.” Rebekah expanded and teamed up with Dina Piccoli McAndrew to expand Salt Pilates into Salt Method Halo Lifestyle. Salt Method has brought aboard practitioners, yoga instructors, massage therapists and estheticians to create Park City’s only halotherapy wellness center.

Halotherapy was discovered in the 1800’s by Polish health official Felix Bochkovsky who observed that salt miners’ frequent exposure to salt mines yielded positive results in skin and respiratory health. Halotherapy has long been medically recognized in Europe for relief of respiratory ailments including allergies, asthma, bronchitis, COPD and even snoring. According to the World Halotherapy Association, halotherapy’s use of negatively ionized sodium chloride cleanses the respiratory tract and strengthens lung function. It has also been found to improve dermatitis, psoriasis, acne and other skin conditions. Halotherapy spas and caves mimic the effects of long-term salt mine exposure.

A halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical grade salt into a dry aerosol that is misted into all of Salt Method’s treatment rooms. The aerosol travels to the deepest part of the lungs and respiratory tract where it dissolves bacteria and pollutants and works to expel mucous and open constricted airways.

There are infrared towers in all of the salt caves. Infrared light is absorbed by the skin, heating the body directly without warming the surrounding air. Because infrared penetrates deeper, it mobilizes and burns fat, aiding in weight loss and detoxification. Infrared therapy also balances cortisol levels, relaxing muscles and relieving tension. As core body temperatures rise, circulation increases, stimulating blood flow, improving muscle recovery and decreasing pain and inflammation.

In addition to massage, facials and acupuncture treatments, Salt Method Halo Lifestyle offers a wide variety of classes:

Salt Method Beach Yoga is a slow flow yoga beach class held in a large salt cavern. While practicing on a bed of Himalayan salt surrounded by infrared towers, the primary focus is on harmonizing breath and movement while experiencing a series of strength and flexibility-building postures.

Yoga Nidra is a systematic approach to guided relaxation that leads to a profound release of mental and physical tension. It’s perfect to relieve stress buildup at a day’s end.

Kids Beach Yoga is available for ages 7-12 and is timed to coincide with Pilates classes so parents can enjoy a workout.

Pilates classes incorporate the Reformer, Wundachair, jump board, spring wall and various props into intensely choreographed workouts:

High Intensity Cardio Jumpboard requires a strong sense of mind-body awareness, balance, strength and endurance. It’s a fat-burning workout utilizing the barre, jump board, rebounder, Wundachair and Reformer.

Skilates is an advanced class devoted to strengthening the abdominals, obliques, back, and glutes using Reformers, Wundachairs, boxes, weights and bands for optimal fitness.

Restorative Reformer is designed for older adults, those returning from injury or those who desire a lighter approach to Pilates. Practice in a supportive environment using the Reformer, spring wall, Wundachair and mat.

Incorporating Pilates and halotherapy into your life can promote increased flexibility and balance, help eliminate toxins and aid respiration. Experience how Salt Method can help you live and breathe life easier.
