Park City autophiles lined up last year when Audi introduced its sleek E-tron crossover SUV, the brand’s premiere entry into the burgeoning field of electric vehicles. The all-new, vehicle is perfect for upscale drivers seeking a sure-footed, luxury SUV to navigate local canyons and snow-covered Park City streets.

Sam Strong, the E-Tron expert at Audi Salt Lake City, says the new offering has been “very successful” in Summit County. The 2020 E-Tron boasts classic Audi styling similar to its gas-powered Audi SUV siblings. “That’s one of the things I like about the vehicle. With a lot of e-cars you can definitely tell they’re electric. But this car is just a great looking Audi,” says Strong.

Powered by twin front and rear motors churning out 355 horsepower and pushed by Audi’s patented quattro all-wheel drive system, the E-Tron accelerates from zero to 60 mph in a mere 5.5 seconds. If you’re really in a hurry, a double tap on the shift er boosts output to 402 horsepower.

With a range of just over 200 miles and a super-quick recharging time, the car is just the ticket for around-town commutes or cross-country jaunts. “You can charge the car up to 80 percent in 30 minutes, good for about 160 miles,” says Strong.

The luxury vehicle handles more like a sports car than a conventional, boxy SUV, thanks to its multiple drive modes, adjustable suspension and a brawny, regenerative braking system. Though not exactly a rock crawler, the E-Tron is well suited for adventurous Utah backroads.

“I was really surprised by the handling in snow,” Strong says. “I went a little off -trail with an E-Tron last winter in Big Cottonwood Canyon and it just flew up a steep, snowy road. It definitely can handle any terrain.”

Inside, the E-Tron ride is extremely comfortable and soothingly quiet. Heated seating and other standard cabin features are typical, elegant Audi. Josh Strong, the dealership’s marketing director, especially likes the Apple CarPlay audio system.

With a MSRP of $74,800, the 2020 Audi E-Tron is one fine ride.
