World-Class Restaurants with Gourmet Goodness: the “Gateway to the Uintas”

A short and scenic 18-mile drive to the east of Park City is the “Gateway to the Uintas,” also known as the Kamas Valley. For years this charming area has been considered the last outpost for people heading into the mountains and, naturally, the first sign of civilization upon their return. Those living in the Kamas Valley recognize how unique it is to have world-class restaurants with gourmet goodness.

Filled with charm and flare, locals drive their ATVs and UTVs to restaurants whose cuisine cater to the community, but feature menus with enough diversity to attract those with sophisticated palates.

Step back in time at the Art Deco-style Road Island Diner in Oakley. This family friendly restaurant serves up everything from cheese fries to fountain drinks, salads to burgers, and cinnamon rolls to spaghetti, there is something for everyone. Gourmet chefs, Steve and Ginn, serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Notch serves up burgers and beer to those adventuring along the Mirror Lake Highway. Caylan, an owner explains, “The Notch is like a big cabin in the woods where everyone wants to hang out.” With a wide selection of food and drinks, relaxed atmosphere, and patio, guests feel like family.

Don’t miss this local landmark. On your way to the Uinta Mountains be sure to stop at Samak Smokehouse & Country Store, located on Mirror Lake Highway. Quaint and filled with everything you need to enjoy your adventure. Our favorites are the smoked trout and wild salmon, turkey jerky, and their made to order sandwiches. Now you are ready!
