Most folks living in and around Park City or visiting the Wasatch Back in the winter have traveled up the ski hills on the lifts; few have had the opportunity to ride the runs behind horses. Real cowboys load their passengers onto horse drawn sleighs for a magical winter ride up the mountain.

With reservations available for “just a sleigh ride” (25-30 minutes) or a sleigh ride and dinner (2 ½ hours) Snowed Inn Sleigh Company provides options for all adventurers.

Each sleigh holds 10-12 people and is pulled by two strong draft horses. Th e 20-minute ride traverses the ski runs up to the rustic mountain lodge, treating riders to spectacular views of the mountains, the Park City lights and the glistening stars. The horses are true professionals and depart right on time for the mountain trek, so arrive a few minutes early to meet the cowboys and get checked in.

Once you arrive at the lodge, warm up by a roaring fire and then enjoy home cooked western fare, cowpoke hospitality, entertainment and laughter. If you have dietary concerns, do not fret. Menu accommodations can be made for children, vegetarians and gluten-free guests.

Local Betsi Thompson shares, “A few winters ago, my family visited us in Utah for the first time. Because they are from Mexico and hadn’t seen snow, we knew we had to take them on a sleigh ride. Riding up the mountain with snow lightly falling on us in the evening felt like we were in a fairy tale. My little cousins said, ‘We’re in Frozen’ and looked for princesses. It was definitely an unforgettable experience that we all will look back on and do again.”

While there are a variety of winter experiences in Park City, riding with a horse drawn sleigh is one that should not be missed or soon forgotten.
