Treks for you and your dog – Park City Dog Walking Trails

To say that Park City loves their dogs is a bit of an understatement. Park City locals consider their domestic pet part of the family.

With the shelter at place in full effect, this is the perfect time to create an even deeper bond with your four-legged family member. A great way to keep Fido happy and healthy, and an excuse to get outside, is to take him for a fun-filled afternoon trek. Take advantage of this time of the season when wildlife likes to make appearances and mountain bikers aren’t on the trail quite yet.

Here are some of our favorite local spots:

Round Valley: With convenient access off Highway 40 and so many trails to choose from, you and Fido will enjoy an afternoon in sun. Be sure to wear your sunscreen and bring water as there is a lot of sunshine and not much coverage. Bring your leash, as you’re sure to run into wildlife.

Park City Mountain -Armstrong Trail to Dawns Loop: This is a lovely 3.3 miles loop that showcases beautiful spring flowers and bird watching.

Rail Trail from Prospector to Highway 40: This paved trail is known for its beautiful scenery. Check out the Beaver Dam and resident moose down by the Creekside. Make this an afternoon stroll for you and your four-legged friend.

Summit Park – Road to Wos: Start with a short steep climb, that turns into a single trail. Like many trails in PC, this is a bike trail in the summer, so take advantage of the free space and check out the tall pine trees that you don’t typically see in other parts of Park City.

Glen Wild – Flying Dog Trail: This rocky but flowy trail is beautiful during the middle of the day and catches just the perfect rays of sunshine.

Guardsman’s Pass. The actual pass to Big Cottonwood Canyon is closed right now, but you and Fido can park in the parking spots before the gate and enjoy the high altitude and unadulterated beauty.

So put on your trekking shoes, grab a leash and poop bag (or 2) and go! Be sure to share your trek on social media and hashtag #MountainExpressMag for your chance to win some goodies your dog will love.
