FIND YOUR LOCAL EXPERT – Local Services in Park City

The greater Park City area is chock full of creative, talented, and experienced people who, luckily for us, turned their passions into businesses. People in our community come from all over the world and bring with them unique knowledge and specialties. Here’s a compilation of some of the tried-and-true hometown entrepreneurs, ranging from your neighborhood butcher to florist to pharmacist.

PET STORE
Look to the Barking Cat for attentive, helpful staff and the best quality foods, equipment, and toys for all of your pets’ needs. This female-owned pet store was opened in 2014 by Merridee Hansen Farr. Her focus is to sell local or US-made products, providing high-quality gear, equipment, and food to all the Park City pet lovers. It even has its own “barkery” with treats from small-business bakers that look good enough for people to eat.

“It’s easy for anybody to go to Amazon or a place like that and get something to your door the next day,” Farr postured. “We want to add that special human touch to make it a fun place for people to bring their dogs and their cats. Although we don’t get too many cats, it’s fun when we do.”

BUTCHER SHOP
Heber Valley Meat is one of the only butcher shops practicing whole carcass processing, allowing for custom cuts of meat. “We wanted to bring high quality, local, and fresh meats to the Heber Valley as well as offer a convenient option for local farmers and ranchers to get their animals processed,” said Owner Jessie Morris.

Heber Valley Meat processes and sources ingredients locally, like for its house-made bratwurst and sausages. It also does custom mobile processing and wild game processing from deer to antelope to moose.

INSURANCE AGENCY
Whether you’re new to town, own a vacation home, or just looking for a local insurance team, C&W Premier Insurance will work with you on all your coverage needs. Assisting Park City since 1996 and still providing services to many of their very first clients, the agency gains most of its new clients through referrals and personalized assistance. Owner and Agent Clair Christoffersen has been in the industry since 1989 and further explains, “We’re a very local hands-on company.” C&W offers a litany of insurance coverage from business and home, to auto, life, and health insurance. Plus, they specialize in multi-state coverage and distinctive indemnities. They even insure a helicopter and a fleet of Learjets.

Brant Christoffersen, Clair’s son, is poised to take over the business to keep it in the family. “Park City is very community oriented, and everyone likes that they can talk to either myself or my father personally,’’ states Brant.

NEIGHBORHOOD PHARMACY
Ryan Swensen has been a pharmacist for over 20 years in pretty much every position, employed by both chains and family-owned pharmacies. He worked at Ridley’s in Midway until it closed, leading him to open Midway Family Pharmacy.

“Loving Midway as much as I do, I thought, ‘I’m going to open my own pharmacy here.’ My history has given me all the skills to do that.”
With a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, he provides next-level care. Midway Family Pharmacy prides itself on knowing its customers, many of which followed Swensen from Ridley’s. The pharmacy also supplies over-the-counter medicines, cold and flu care, immunizations and local goods.

Swenson proudly proclaims, “Having a pharmacy that knows what you’re taking, knows about all the nuances of your health and your healthcare is hard to get. Are you tired of being a number? You can come here. We’re making pharmacy personal again.”

COMPUTER AND IT SUPPORT
ACE Rescue Computer Solutions wants technology to work for you not against you. Owner Aaron Cheatwood has a passion for IT and delights in finding solutions for your home and business.

“I love doing IT solutions because I enjoy the thrill of finding issues and resolutions, and I love helping people to become more efficient and get more out of their technology,” Cheatwood explained. “I genuinely enjoy seeing people move from frustration to confidence.”

Cheatwood also enjoys interacting with his customers from all walks of life. No job is too big or too small; he enjoys any task from finding lost family photos to securing small business systems to protecting peoples’ livelihoods.

LOCAL BANK
With multiple neighborhood locations throughout Utah and Colorado, Grand Valley Bank knows its customers personally. In 2012, Grand Valley Bank opened its doors to its Park City location at 1225 Deer Valley Drive. The knowledgeable staff and friendly atmosphere provide exceptional customer service. As part of its local connection, Grand Valley Bank is also the proud host to the Deer Valley Community Concert Series.

FLOWER SHOP
Silver Cricket Floral owned by Marilyn Brumfield has been voted Park City’s Best Flower Shop multiple times over. The floral studio is based in the Redstone Center and specializes in design to clean up for custom arrangements, wedding, holidays and events.

In addition to floral bouquets, the Silver Cricket crafts gourmet gift baskets for your loved ones. Or go one step further and enjoy one of their permanent floral displays that can be kept in your home forever.

The UPS Store is an all-in-one postal, business and communications service center. From shipping and packaging to faxing and full-service copiers and full-color printing, the UPS Store is there to help. It even offers private mailboxes, notary services and passport pictures.

Dr. Carl Prior and his loving team stay on top of the latest advances in veterinary technology and treat every patient like it’s their own pet. The veterinary clinic and animal hospital offers pet wellness exams, spay and neuter services, and dental care, all from a dedicated and experienced staff.
