Happy Birthday Utah – Celebrating 125 Years

On January 4th, Utah honored its 125th Anniversary of Statehood with a day-long celebration and fireworks show. This included remembering the people that shaped the state during the past century, along with the indigenous people who have lived in the region for thousands of years.

Additionally, the Utah Department of Heritage and Arts has organized a yearlong series of programs and events in recognition of the milestone and in support of nearly 13 decades of culture and history.

After a 50 years effort, Utah joined the Union in 1896 as the 45th state. Since then, Utah has become a crossroads for America and an economic hub of the Rocky Mountains.
