Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a local treasure. Located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, it’s one of the state’s top-visited attractions. Its natural 42-acre hillside terrain and
meandering tree-covered pathways enhance your experience as you discover the wonders of the natural world.

With nearly 1,000 animals to visit — from both above and below ground — the zoo is a Utah leader in education and awareness. Year-round fundraising and charitable events give those who care about making a difference opportunities for up-close-and- personal time with the wild kingdom.

This February, join Hogle Zoo in celebrating our favorite Arctic native: Rizzo, the polar bear. Emulate these colossal cold-climate kings by dressing in all white for discounted tickets to the park. The zoo’s underwater viewing area is the perfect spot to learn about Rizzo and her environment, even observe a feeding!

International Polar Bear Day is February 27th! Every year, this global event draws attention to the challenges polar bears face in a warming Arctic and what we can each do to help. Today’s polar bear populations are facing rapid loss of the sea ice where they hunt, breed and in some cases, den. Changes in their distribution or numbers affect the entire Arctic ecosystem.
Bundle-up for polar bears and join Hogle Zoo in taking the Polar Bear International’s Thermostat Challenge.

Here’s how:
• On International Polar Bear Day, lower your thermostat a few degrees to show your commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
• Pledge to make every day a Polar Bear Day by taking steps to always save energy.
• Spread the word — share tips with family members and friends.

Awareness and education are just the tips of the iceberg when it comes to preserving our Arctic friends, and Utah’s Hogle Zoo wants to make sure that everyone leaves the exhibits with a better appreciation and understanding of our world. Whether it’s going nose-to-nose with Rizzo or creating memories with your own favorite inhabitants, your family is sure to have a fun, frozen adventure this winter at Hogle Zoo!
