Like many of us this year, Carleen Gardner celebrated her 2020 birthday during the shelter-in-place. However, since Ms. Gardner turned the grand-young age of 91, it just didn’t seem right to let the day pass like any other.

So, on Saturday, April 4th, Ms. Gardner’s friends and family showered loving wishes from their cars as they drove by her house. Surrounded by a pink balloon tower, Gardner enjoyed a glass of champagne while beaming with delight.

You may know Gardner as the former president of the Park City Senior Center. She moved to Park City in 2010 to live with her daughter, Katherine Martz, and family. Originally from Camilla, Georgia, Gardner lived in Savannah from 1953 to 2010 where she taught piano and played the organ for her local church. She was married to her high school sweetheart for 47 years before he passed away in 1997.

Since moving to Park City, she has been actively involved in the community. She loves taking walks in our beautiful mountain air and playing piano at The Abbington Senior Community every Tuesday. You might be able to find her every Monday and Thursday at the Park City Senior Center socializing and playing a fierce game of bridge.
